The Great Southern Walk is Kent’s exciting annual community event — a Full 15-mile walk and Fun 5-mile walk set in the breathtaking Kent Downs.Our inaugural year in 2025 was a fantastic success. Join us in 2026 on Sunday 13th September!
The event brings together residents, businesses, and organisations to raise funds for two life-changing charities: The Prince of Wales Youth Club and Rising Sun.
The event starts and finishes on the outskirts of Canterbury, with both routes set across the Kent Downs AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

What to expect on
the day:
Full 15 Miles
Starts 9:00am. Explore rolling hills and valleys, remote hamlets, and ancient woodland with 1,300+ ft of elevation.
Fun 5 Miles
Starts 11.30am, this route is mostly flat, through meadows and along the River Stour.
All participants receive medals.
There will be food & drink available to purchase at the start/finish line.
